The support frame is made out of metal tubing and is very strong. I really like the metal set since there is no wood to splinter or fade. I suppose it is a matter of personal taste in choosing wood versus metal. The roof to the club house is made out of hard plastic and the deck is made out of non-slip plastic. There is also a play ship wheel and binoculars in the clubhouse along with a metal chalk board. The slide is eight feet long. The climbing wall is made of plastic and is fun to climb. There is also a rope ladder, two swings and a trapeze. It took two people who are not very handy about eight hours to put this together. The parts came well organized and the instructions were easy to follow. The majority of the assembly work is simply bolting sections together. Most fasteners are allen bolts so it helps to have a cordless drill with a allen bit. The play set is free... Even then - yikes, the price. I was banking on solid, low maintenance, no splinters, no staining, etc. You can buy a wood set for less, but most will look awful in a few years. And my husband and I are lazy people - or at any rate, I am the ADD poster child of home repair. I have too many projects started and not enough motivation or drive to finish any of them. So the last thing we need to do is add "swing set upkeep" to our endless list.The delivery was, initially, not so bad. Ours came on a huge truck, we had to be here to get it, had to set up a time for that (really one of those "between 10 and 4" type deals.) The driver took the wooden crates away - some other reviews say they had top break the crates down. That alone took about 3 weeks from when I ordered, and when we got to work we learned a piece was wrong - they sent us two of the same for the deck supports, rather than 2 mirror... It is very sturdy and will be strong enough for all your kids and the neighbor's kids. We are looking forward to many years of fun on this! My husband spent about 14 hours putting this together with another helper for about 2 of those hours and I helped with a couple of the bigger pieces. I'm glad we didn't waste our money on a wood playscape that needs maintenance and will only last a few years. Definitely a good buy! |
