Aftershave Lotion Cologne 8 Ounces (Health and Beauty) I see that I'm not the first to notice something's amiss at Royall Lyme. At least I now know that I haven't lost my mind nor sense of smell. I've been wearing Royall Lyme and Royall Spyce for DECADES, but when the last of my annual supply was running out, I quickly ordered one 8oz bottle each of Royall Lyme and Royall Spyce DIRECTLY FROM ROYALL LYME, so I know I wasn't getting a counterfeit. The first thing I noticed when I opened it was, "Made under license in the USA" on the label. The second was a distinct lack of heady, fresh aroma from either bottle. It smelled more like scented rubbing alcohol. Royall Lyme was, without doubt, the finest men's fragrance in the world. Not anymore. Who's at the helm of the company now? An accountant? This time - it takes me awhile to go through the last bottle - when I re-ordered, I noticed that the product is now manufactured under franchise to some company in the 'States, rather than in Bermuda. And there is quality difference. The new USA-made lotion is thinner in scent, watery and less , oh, zesty than the Bermuda-made original.Did I purchase the wrong product? I mean, its more like the old Old Spice Lime after shave, the star of the local drug store after shaves than the original quality Royall Lyme. Not bad - I'll continue to use it - but a bit disappointing. A man's fragrance should only be smelled when you're inches away from him, not across the room. Almost all the other after-shave products on the market today are overwhelming--shake hands with a guy and you carry around his fragrance for hours. If you want a subtle cologne, use Royall Lyme or, for a change, Royall Spice.Amazon.com had the best price on this item, less than half the retail price, with free shipping. A great deal! |
